Whilton Mill September 2008

Jack Macaulay endured his first yellow plate meeting at Whilton, a nerve-racking experience for anyone! He even started on pole for his third heat, but handled the pressure extremely well for a debut run. He remained level headed throughout the day, attaining his first yellow plate race without any dramas. Next month, we hope to see Jack finish higher up the grid, safe in the knowledge that he now has the speed to become a real competitor within the mid-grid pack.

Ryan Anderton experienced his first race at Whilton Mill, and subsequently was forced to spend most of Saturday refining the racing line, and searching for a finalised setup. A clean race day followed, showing much potential, but kart setup issues forced Ryan into a lesser finish in the final than he deserved. Next month, with the circuit learned, he can concentrate more on the kart, and refine his skills to become a more significant contender.

John Barnes, Rotax 177, continued his novice plate races with another very clean and competitive drive. He showed a strong pace on the Sunday, qualifying higher than many yellow plates for the final. A hard battle during the final for the novice trophy ensued, but on the last lap, his rival made a fatal mistake at the hairpin, allowing John though, who took the trophy a lap later. Another stunning drive!

Shenington September 2008

Luke Barker in the Cadet class, had an exceptional weekend, finishing 12th in the A Final- his first race at the circuit. Three very promising heats resulted in a 6 place start in the final, and with only two laps remaining, Luke lay in 4th place. Unfortunately, a tangle at the hairpin on the penultimate lap caused the drop down to twelth, where he remained till the finish. Huge potential was shown however, attaining the second fastest lap, so we hope to see him again next month to finish in a more deserving place.

Tim Goodwin, Rotax 177 survived his first race back into karting, after a three year break. Consistency was shown throughout the weekend, and his lap times reduced progressivly over both days. One signature down, four left before we can move onto full plates. Tim will be racing with us at Whilton in the Rotax 177 class, and we hope that further improvements can be made there...
