Shenington

Tom Wood

Seven year old Tom Wood had to endure a baptism of fire on Saturday. Tom found the cut and thrust of Comer racing a little frantic compared with the Bambino class he is used to. However, by the final session he was getting to grips with the strange new circuit and adapting well to his new chassis and engine, far more powerful than he is used to. Tom plans to test at Shenington every Saturday to ensure he is right on the pace for his first race in November, when he will be eight.

Lewis Malin

Lewis coped with his inaugural race on full plates really well. His lap times are improving as his confidence grows. He drove well in the final, despite getting fired off at the start. Unfortunately, his chain came off two laps from the flag. Still, he didn't dwell on that long - and is ready for the second round of the season in February.

Tom Hill

Tom put on a really solid performance during the heats, which on most occasions would have easily earned him a place in the A Final. Unfortunately, with 62 entries in the Cadet class, it was never going to be an easy task, and Tom found himself gridded 7th in the B Final. Tom didn't quite have the pace, and ended up 9th, but lives to fight another day.

Alex Gatton

Getting fired off at the start of heat two meant Alex had to start the final from a lowly 14th. However, he stormed through the field in the opening laps, and had reeled in the leader Maybin by the final tour. He was about to make his move when a very quick Nathan Lawley demoted Alex to third and the leading trio took the chequered flag only half a second apart. A good clean race and a great result considering the starting position.

Whilton

Alex Gatton

Poor performances in all the heats, mainly due to carb problems, meant Alex had to start the final from grid 14. Fortunately, he found some real pace, and after some nifty overtaking manoeuvres, finished a fine sixth, with lap times on a par with the leaders.

Jack Macaulay

Jack had a rather subdued weekend at Whilton, mainly due to engine issues throughout the weekend. The first race of the season is always a wake up call after the months off, and Jack found it slightly harder to get back into the swing of things. However, his finishes were all consistent, and that in itself bodes well for the future.
