Shenington (17/18 April)

Tom Wood (Comer Cadet):

After a blinding Saturday, Tom was disappointed at having to start at the back for the A final due to some niggling carb issues in the heats. However, this time Tom's new Force motor was on song and he drove brilliantly to finish 18th; beating his previous best time by 4/10 along the way! Tom's pace and race craft are improving with each race and it won't be long before he wins the trophy he has his heart set on.

Connor Gibbs (Junior Rotax):

Connor came off worse during some on-track scuffles in the heats and had to start near the back for the final. Immediately at ease with his new Tony Kart EVS chassis, he began to lap within 1/2 second of the leaders and battled his way up to 19th place by the flag.

Connor's newfound speed and consistency are sure to be rewarded with some good results once he has cracked the race craft code!

Alok Iyengar (Senior Rotax):

This was Alok’s second race meeting and his first at Shenington. A promising Saturday was marred by brake failure in the first heat on Race day. An ancient brake system meant no spares were available at the track to effect repairs and it looked like that was it for the weekend. However kart Coach offered Alok the Kart they had bought along for David Lane to take his ARKS and after somehow wedging himself into the smaller seat he made the 3rd heat and the Final. Alok took some laps to get used to the more responsive chassis but gradually improved his times during the race .He was able to get that all important signature from the clerk of the course and is already looking forward to Whilton Mill next week.

David Lane (Senior Rotax):
With Kart Coach's help David Lane sailed through his Arks test on Saturday. His smooth driving style is sure to be rewarded when he takes to the track for his first race just as soon as his busy schedule allows.

Tom Wood (Comer Cadet):

Three fantastic results in the heats set Tom up at 14th on the grid for a packed final. A tangle at the boot and two red flags meant that Tom didn't quite get the result that he deserved but, nevertheless, a great day with personal bests tumbling once again.

Connor Gibbs (Junior Rotax):

Saturday showed great promise for the weekend after a fantastic performance on Saturday practice. This shone through in a 9th place finish in the second heat but alas mechanical issues in the other two heats resulted in DNF's and a place in the B final. Chaos at the start quickly put pay to any chance of finishing in the top 4 but nevertheless, some big positives to be taken from the weekend.

Brandon Hunt (Junior TKM):

After a Saturday fraught with engine issues and drastically modifying the setup of an older chassis, Brandon completed 3 heats consistently, rewarding him with a position 15 start for the final. After a good start, making his way up into the top 10, but with a rain shower during the closing few laps, Brandon tip-toed around the field, eventually finishing a storming 8th.

Alok Iyengar (Senior Max):

The journey continues with Kart Coach's favourite Indian racing driver. Naturally, being on novice plates, three heats were fairly quiet affairs and Alok started amongst the rest of the novices at the back of the final. With a heavy rain shower just before the final, conditions were challenging but carnage at the start meant that a rather surprised Alok found himself in the middle of the pack. Driving admirably, this was his first proper experience racing with a larger number of karts around him, Alok slowly began to slip back but ended up finishing several places ahead of where he started, taking over half a second off his personal best in the process.

Jake Dobson (Junior Max):

Jake's front-running pace in the heats gave him a remarkable 13th place starting position for the A final out of an entry of 45 karts. However, unfortunately the inevitable accident at the start pushed Jake to the back of the grid. Although he fought back admirably throughout the race, he was only ever making back lost ground. A 19th place finish however was an impressive result considering the initial setback.
